Insider Tips: Winning at Slots

It's been a while since we've let you in on our best kept Slot Secrets.  Since there are so many new members, we thought it was time to remind you of the tried-and-tested advice some of our expert players have been kind enough to share with us.  We've also gathered up some hot new intel to give you the edge at the reels.

Nancy W. Gives Solid Advice

Nancy reveals her own successful playing strategy.  In her words:  "I try not to spend more than 250 tokens per game per hour,  unless of course it costs more than that to play.  [This] generally keeps me ahead of the game.

The main thing to do is place in the Top 80, especially when you don't have a lot of tokens to play with.  You can't be chasing first place with few tokens.  Carl DW. once said, "You are probably chasing a loser".  I took his advise and it has been good to me."

Star H. Loves the Giving (and Getting) of Token Gifts

Star pointed out the usefulness of Token Gifts from friends, in that it helps her play longer.  If you're still looking for Buddies to exchange gifts with, the Slots Buddy Finder is the group to join.

 

Wendy C. Shares a Stack of Tips and Tricks

Wendy gave us a bumper volume of excellent advice!  Thank you Wendy!  She uses the following strategy to increase even 500 Tokens in a couple of hours to play each hour.  She shares that you really can play every hour if you stick to a plan.

• Newcomers need to try to upgrade their games as quickly as they can, starting with the lower games first as that is what you'll be playing to build up points to buy your upgrades.
• The first higher games to upgrade would be Tropical Paradise and Footy Fanatic as they both offer the free spins feature.  If you get a good run of free spins, it really adds up in points.  Wendy says, "I love it when that happens!"
• Try to stay within 100 to 150 on a game, that way you have a chance to win on more than one (even if it's a low win, she says, the 250 Token Leaderboard Wins add up).
• Make sure that Token Rockets is one of your upgraded games as you can win extra Tokens there
• If you have a fair amount of points, you can up your play to 500 on the higher games (200 on the 15 line games, 100-150 on the 9-line games.  Now that we have the 45 Token games, she tries to stay within 300 Tokens.
• Remember that 79th place pays as much as 21st place, so you don't always need to aim for higher.
• Every once in a while during a challenge, she says "all the rules go out the window" and she blows them all... but she repeats the plan again and starts to make magic with 500 Tokens again.
• The build-up with the little Tokens is half the fun; Wendy loves to challenge herself to see how quickly she can get back up there

 And get right back up there she does! Wendy is in the Top 10 Monthly players and has amassed over 4 million points in July alone, so she's doing something right.  Play around to find out what works for you!

Bill H. Holds Onto His Secrets

Our resident Canuck, charmer and joker, had a more superstitious and laugh-out-loud funny take on a "winning strategy":

"I try to not spend more than I think I will win and at least try to get on the board.  The 250 adds up but according to my Tokens I will spend more on the higher machines"

4. Upgrade the various Slot Machines to higher levels

Trade in the Points won from hitting winning combinations to upgrade any themed Slots machine to a higher level thereby unlocking a higher win pay out percentage or bonus features like Progressive Jackpots, free spins, Bonus games and more.

We also suggest you increase the amount of Tokens bet per line so that you can multiply your win pay out and put yourself in the running for a place on the Top 40 "Hourly Live Leaderboard.  

5. Enter a Lucky Draw

Trade in the Points you have won from spinning on the Slot Machines for tickets to enter a Lucky Draw and stand the chance to win Tokens. One Point = one ticket.

There are draws for 500 Tokens run every half an hour as well as daily, weekly and monthly draws for 5000, 20 000 and 50 000 Tokens respectively.

DiLiGO Slots: Share the love through Gifts!

It's our Birthday month and so we felt it was the perfect time to make some changes to the current "Token Gift" exchange system. Ten Gifts per day just wasn't enough for us- and we know you felt the same way too.

We have therefore redone our Gifting system completely from scratch. We've taken out the old system and replaced it with something so much better.

MORE Tokens to share with MORE friends...whoo hooo! (This also means you get more Tokens too!)

This new system is completely different to how we did it before, but as a result it's so much easier. In fact, it's as easy as SPIN and when you win you get a Token Gift to share with a friend.

There are three different ways to send a Token Gift. Both are dependent on you hitting a winning spin.

OPTION 1:

The first thing you'll notice is that there is now a "Gift" button on the newly updated games. When you win the "Gift" button will turn Gold so that you can click on it.

Hover over the "Gift" button to see the following message: 

Click on the "Gift" button and the following will pop up:

Followed by a Facebook popup that will take a few moments to update your list of friends:

Click on "Friends to Invite" and change it to "DiLiGO Buddies" to see all your DiLiGO Buddies.

Select which friends you want to gift and click "Send Requests". The next time your friends visit DiLiGO Slots they'll receive your Token Gift (provided they visit Slots within 24 hours of your Gift being sent).

OPTION 2:

When spinning you hit a really good combination you will receive a pop up that looks similar to this:

Click "Send Gifts" and follow the prompts as mentioned in Option 1 to send a Gift.

OPTION 3:

If you've just had an unlucky day when spinning those reels, don't dispair! You can still send 50 of your friends a Token Gift pack! Whoo hoo!

Click on "Friends", "Send Free Gifts" from the game menu to do so:

HINTS: 

• You can increase the Token amount of the Gift by hitting bigger wins. If you increase your bet per line, you'll multiply your win and as a result increase the amount of the Token Gift available to send.
• VIP subscribers can receive double the daily Token limit of Token gifts as Standard subscribers in a 24 hour period.
• There is no limit to the number of Token Gifts you can send or receive. Send to as many friends as you want! (Note that you can only send to each friend once per 24 hours).
• Send Gifts from 100 Tokens up to 500 Tokens depending on the result of your winning spin!

UPDATE: Token Avalanche continues

Gosh that was fun now wasn't it? These Tokens, we can't keep them under control, people just keep winning more and more! Don't miss out, get in on the action now!

Play the Vegas themed Slot Machine and we'll give you the chance to increase the amount of Tokens you can win per hour, every hour when you place in the Top 80- it's like a Token Avalanche, once it starts there's no stopping it!

We know it's quite confusing so we won't bore you with the maths but will tell you that what you need to do is to keep winning by getting placed in the relevant bracket in the Top 80 hour after hour and we'll keep INCREASING your Token Win!

• If you keep placing in the 1st position you could win up to 100 000 Tokens! 
• If you keep placing in the 2nd and 3rd position you could win up to 50 000 Tokens!
• If you keep placing in the 4th - 20th position you could win up to 20 000 Tokens!
• If you keep placing in the 21st to 80th position you could win up to 10 000 Tokens!

Note that if, for example, you get placed in second or third place on the Hourly Live Leaderboards and you reach 50 000 Tokens, but the next hour you get placed in 4th - 20th position you'll then get only 20 000 Tokens that hour. So make sure you keep spinning to keep those Tokens flowing!

Here's an example of what your Token Wins could be if you get a Top 80 place over 14 consecutive hours  (or more):

Helpful hints for Slots from a DiLiGO Gamer

Another DiLiGO Gamer has blown us away with his "How to" guide for DiLiGO Gamers. Thanks Ken Wilson, this is the best advice we've ever come across- including what we've written previously in our article "Want more tokens? Get more tokens!":


"Hello DiLiGO Slots buddies.  Are you one of those players that gets nowhere with their daily allotment of tokens?  Are you wondering why certain people are at the top of the leaderboard a lot of the time?  Do you want to be up there in the Top 40 every hour you're on, on nearly every machine that you play?  Well, I can help you.

There are a few simple tricks that allow people to get better results than others in DiLiGO Slots and I'm going to show you how this occurs.

1. Use your 1,000 tokens wisely.  There's no use going to Driving Tinkerbell and playing 75 tokens a turn to try and get a miracle, use the tokens on more affordable machines.  On a 15 line machine betting 1 Token per line, this gives you 66 spins (50 x 15 = 990), on a 9 line machine you get 111 spins (111 x 9 = 999), and on a 5 line machine, your 500 tokens equals 200 turns, which allows plenty of opportunities to win!!

2. Spread your tokens around.  Using what I have said in Point 1, you can use your 1000 tokens to attempt to reach the Top 80 on multiple machines.  For example, you can do 20 spins each on Token Rockets and Ancient Egypt which is 360 tokens, and still have enough for 128 spins on Euro 2008, US Elections 2008 or Buccaneer's Bounty on 1x5.  With this method, you can contest for the Top 40 on multiple charts and who knows, you may have a good run of spins on the machines you play and turn your 1000 into 1500, 2000 or more tokens.  Take advantage of the trials that DiLiGO offer on certain machines to sample some of the special features on offer with the higher level upgrades.

3. Upgrade your machines.  As you build points, you'll find it better to upgrade your machine sooner rather than later to get more points out of your wins, which in turn makes it easier for you to upgrade your machines.  It becomes one nice improving cycle as you keep playing DiLiGO Slots more and more, making it easier to upgrade other machines at any other time.  Also, take advantage of the trials that DiLiGO offer on certain machines before you upgrade too, to maximise the amount of tokens that you can gain if you haven't already taken up the trial, otherwise this goes to waste.

4. Get in early with your wins.  As you play, on certain machines you will find that you will get the same score as another player, but you find that you are behind them on the leaderboard rather than tied.  Why is this you ask?  It's because DiLiGO rewards the first player to get that achievement.  So if you have two people who have 3 Tinkerbells on 5x5 for 10,000pts. competing for 1st overall, you'll find that the person who got the winning combination first gets the prize.  This applies all the way down the leaderboard aswell.  So get your big wins early so you can survive the barrage of people who get the same score as you and hold your Top 40 position more comfortably.

5. Don't be obsessed with 1st.  While it is fun to be the winner for that hour and have your name come up as the winner for that hour on whatever machine you have played, the simple fact is that you may spend more tokens than you need to in your pursuit of being number 1.  For example, you may get 1st on Beijing Olympics 2008 which is 1000 tokens, but you may have spent 1260 tokens in doing so, which means that you would be down 260 tokens overall anyway.  Always look to make a profit in the machines you want to play and be the long term star on DiLiGO Slots, not be the bright star that flashes up for an hour only to be not seen again for days or weeks again.

6. Get more DiLiGO Buddies.  The more DiLiGO buddies you have that you send gifts to and receive gifts from, the easier it will be to have a chance at making that Top 40 as you will have more tokens in your possession and be ready to stake your place on the DiLiGO leaderboards.  If you have just 10 buddies that gift to you, that's a minimum of 500 extra tokens that you can use to play for longer and get more points and tokens.

7. Get your badges and enter competitions.  You'll find on the Diligo page when they run competitions such as Badge Bingo that if you have those badges and win, then your win is multiplied if you have that badge or the set that badge is a part of.  Also, by being a smart cookie and answering the user submitted questions (or being the smarter cookie and submitting the question itself!) you can also get many more tokens as awarded by the DiLiGO staff.

Just remember people, there's over 7.5 million tokens available from the leaderboards every 24hrs from the 29 individual leaderboards and the overall leaderboard, the question is are you going to take your rightful share of it?? ;)

Tips and Tricks from a DiLiGO Gamer

Pam Gillespie, an avid DiLiGO Gamer, recently entered our DiLiGO Games September Photo Competition. As part of her rounding up of the votes she promised to reveal her Slot Machines playing strategy; one that ensures that you can get more tokens and play for longer every day!

She revealed her secret strategy on the DiLiGO Slots Fan Page Wall yesterday. This is what she had to say:

"TYVM to ALL the voted for me!!!! Ok, my strategy is.... 

If you are starting out with just the daily 1,000 tokens 

• 1st get some friends to send you tokens daily. 
• 2nd if you are in a situation to get the VIP
• 3rd wait a day or 2 to play, -Editors Note: But make sure you log in daily otherwise you won't receive your daily tokens!!!
• 4th,get all your upgrades for the games and
• 5th (is the most important one) start off playing the 2 games that are bet max of 5 tokens (Euro and US presidents) and only play till you know you will be in the top 80 for the hour. Then when you get at least 2000 tokens to play then play them 2 and the 9 credit machines like Wild West the same way then move on as you build up the tokens, DONT play games like Tinkerbell or Disco that are 75 max bet untill you have over 9000 tokens as they will drain your tokens trying to get into the top 20 and if you do play them dont let your token balance fall below 3000.

This is how I am able to ALL day everyday anytime I want so I hope this helps everyone out!!!! I will get my VIP back I hope soon Diligo and TYVM ALL!!!!!"

Who's who at the DiLiGO Zoo

People have different styles of playing online games. So the DiLiGO Gaming Psychology Team has identified seven personality types of online Slot Machine gamers based on simple animal characteristics. See if you can spot yourself, and use our advice for an enhanced gaming experience.

Zebra – You see everything in black and white and like things to be predictable. You can easily spot danger, which makes you run in a whirlwind of confusion.  Ironically, this is when your intuition kicks in, and after the panic you may find yourself in a much better environment.

• Zebra Gamers – Zebras find a good playing formula and stick to it. But if they start losing they will panic and may save themselves through sheer wild luck.
• DiLiGO Advice – Play games with unusual features like Progressive Jackpots or Bonus Games that will shake you out of your comfort zone.

Elephant – You are usually slow and methodical and you tend to hold grudges for a long time. You make careful decisions based on past experience. This means that you learn fast. Despite your plodding nature you are adaptable, humorous and playful.

• Elephant Gamers – Elephants are strategic and plan ahead. When they lose they kick in their heels and go at the problem until they have understood how to get around it. They enjoy playing games that used to give them problems just because they feel proud of beating it.

Python – Your sleepy appearance hides your cunning. You can wait patiently for a long time, but when the moment comes you seize it with confidence. Once you grab onto something you squeeze it for all it’s worth. You know when to relax and bask in the sun, and when it is time to apply yourself, so you don’t waste a lot of energy worrying about unnecessary things.

• Python Gamers – Python gamers don’t seek the limelight and easily fall under the radar. They may at first seem bored, but they can suddenly turn into ruthless high-rollers quite late in the game. They will often surprise other players by walking away with all the evening’s winnings.
• DiLiGO Advice – Be nice. Make an effort to be social. Why don’t you add some buddies to your DiLiGO Profile and get some friendly competition going?

Lion – You are proud and not shy tell people about your accomplishments. You know how to get what you want, and you can be very warm and generous when you are happy. But you complain bitterly if things don’t go your way and you will roar furiously over the smallest thorn in your foot.

• Lion Gamers – When Lions are winning everything goes well and not just for themselves. They will easily spend a fortune on friends and entertain them in the lap luxury. However, Lions make very sad, sore losers.
• DiLiGO Advice – Slow down! Take a deep breath and remember to have fun! Remember, although winning is the ultimate goal, it's also about enjoying the game!

Panda – You prefer to explore the world on your own and can be quite shy. You tend to be absorbed more in following your own interests than in other people. But you also have a caring, playful nature when you relax.

• Panda Gamers – Pandas are quite fascinated by games but are less concerned about winning or losing. They can easily spend hours on a single game and hardly notice that they are on a losing streak. Only when they run out of credits will they think about moving on. 
• DiLiGO Advice – Play with a friend who will tap you on the shoulder and keep you focussed.

Giraffe – Some people say you have your head in the clouds. This really means that you have a very far-reaching view, and you tend to see the bigger picture better than most people. But you often miss the little details close to the ground.

• Giraffe Gamers – Giraffes can easily spot patterns and this makes them good strategists. However, they are less absorbed by the details of each play than with the overall achievement. They sometimes give up on a game if it does not fit with their bigger plans.
• DiLiGO Advice – Remember that you must build your empire one brick at a time. Every little point counts!

It's because of you that they have now introduced some awesome new features like Profile Pages, Badges, the Inbox, Full Screen mode and History, and have also made some much needed changes to your good old favourite features like Gifts and the Games List as well.

New DiLiGO Slots: History

Have you ever logged in to be presented with your "Inbox" showing your Daily Tokens received but then looked at your Token Balance and felt that you actually didn't get them?

For various reasons, most often related to a connection problem between your computer and our servers, your Token and/or Points balances may not update immediately. This is because all the various features of the app connect separately and independently of each other - and sometimes one may be a little bit behind the other.

Our advice: When in doubt (and to speed things along) refresh the page! Most often this will re-establish the connection and your Token and/or Points balance will update correctly.

However, we feel that it is also important that you have another way of "double-checking" that you are receiving the correct amount of Daily Tokens, Token Gifts and Points won in the games played. It is for this reason that we have created "History".

Move your mouse over "Help", then click on "History":

Your DiLiGO Games Account History will pop up as follows:

Here you will see that anything in green is a credit to your account (like Daily Tokens, Token Gifts, Hourly Leaderboard Wins, Lucky Draw Wins and Points Won) and anything in red is a debit on your account (like amount of tokens spun, amount of points spent to enter a Lucky Draw or purchase a Badge etc).

We therefore suggest that should you have any doubt about the amount of Tokens received, or Points won go check out your History first. If you still have a question about something you've seen there- do not hesitate to contact the Support Team by selecting "Help", "Contact DiLiGO Support" from the menu and one of the support staff will investigate your query and get back to you with an answer asap.

Note: Support will respond to your query within 24 hours Monday to Friday, but, because we're a humane company who do give our staff break from time to time, if your query is sent over a weekend, Support will get back to you as soon as they can on the Monday immediately following.

Sneak Preview of New-look app

We're really delighted to hear that you're enjoying the new Live Leaderboards the DiLiGO Devs have recently added, but wait, there's so much more to come!

I managed to gain access to the "Nerd Cave" (this is where the Devs spend all their time coding and designing stuff for the app) and got a sneak preview of what they have spent the last few months working on. It's top secret stuff, so even I hadn't seen it until now, however now that I have I've also managed to get some screen shots to show you.

It's awesome! You're going to love it- I know I do! :)
