For thousands of years the Mojave Desert kept a secret. But in 1829 one man, travelling alone across the rocky sun-drenched terrain, made a discovery that changed the landscape forever. There, in a forgotten valley, he stumbled onto a lush desert oasis we now know as Las Vegas.
Flash forward nearly 200 years and this diamond of the desert has become a gaudy glowing beacon for every exercise in fantastic ambition and lurid escapism of the modern world.
