DiLiGO's "How to survive the Holidays"

All rights reserved by Betty Crocker Recipes
Part 1

So you’ve decided to host Thanksgiving this year, and now you’re remembering why people say the holidays are stressful. Putting a bunch of your relatives in the same room together can be daunting, no matter how much you love them all individually.

The key of course lies in remembering what this holiday is all about. It’s a time to feel grateful after all! The trick is to get everyone involved to ease the load. So here are DiLiGO’s guidelines for keeping the Thanksgiving spirit alive when facing the most common holiday challenges.

The conversation hog

Every family has one, that relative who loves to swoop in on you and pin you down with a long monologue about something you have absolutely no interest in. It can be really difficult to excuse yourself politely from the conversation, and if you have a lot to do you may feel very frustrated.

Be Thankful. You have found a helper. Over-talkers just want to be noticed and made to feel special. Take charge. Interrupt and give the person a hug midsentence. Say, “I am so happy you are here, I need your help,” and then give them something “important” to do.

Kitchen chaos

There is a reason caterers go to catering school. It is very tricky to cook the perfect Thanksgiving meal and be the perfect host all at the same time. If you are cooking while the family is around you can expect a few spills and breakages and overcooked food.

Be Thankful. Look at all this abundance. A slightly overdone turkey is far better than no turkey at all. After all, chaos is what family is all about. Imperfections make people feel at ease.

Scurrying kids

You love the cute little jelly smeared faces and gap toothed smiles. However, having a gang of five-year-olds hanging on your clothes and insisting that you play with them while you are juggling a hundred things can be difficult.

Be Thankful. This is your opportunity to enjoy them while the whole family is there to share the load. Take a bit of time to give them your undivided attention and then ask someone else to take over.

A very long day

If all goes well you may have another problem on your hands: Your guests won’t want to go home! The turkey lethargy has set in and now everyone is lying around on your couches long after the game is over and the conversation has dried up.

Be Thankful! You’ve had a great day and spent quality time with the people you love. Now they are still around to help you clean up! Just start delegating. It will get their blood pumping again and inspire them either to get busy or head for home.

With these tips, this year’s Thanksgiving might end up being the best you’ve ever had, and you may feel a little sad when it is finished.

Never fear for DiLiGO Games is hosting its own Pilgrim’s Feast for you to enjoy all year round! There’s a wild golden egg, which replaces any symbol on the board, and on top of that, there are golden feathers that give you a line no matter where they scatter! This feast is so big it’s got more symbols than any other game! So keep the celebration going and the wins coming!

Leaderboards: more chances to win!

We've made many changes to Slots over the past few months, all of which have been geared towards giving you, the DiLiGO Gamer, the best possible Slots gaming experience.

In June we upped the competition by introducing more Live Leaderboards. This meant that not only was there an Overall Live Leaderboard, but one per game as well. As of today this means that there are 32 Live Leaderboads in total! Each of these Leaderboards pays out to the top 20 for that hour, every hour! That's a total of 8,064,000 tokens being won every day!

But that's not all- every win still counts towards the Daily, Weekly and Monthly Leaderboard. However, previously only 1st place got a prize. This was not fun. Something needed to change, and so it now has!

From now on, we have increased the amount of winners on all three of these Leaderboards as follows:

Daily Leaderboard:
  • The top 100 players will each win 1000 tokens.
  • The top 101 - 500 players will each win 500 tokens.

Weekly Leaderboard:
  • The top 500 players will each win 1000 tokens.
  • The top 501 to 2000 players will each win 500 tokens.

Monthly Leaderboard:
  • The top 1000 players will each win 1000 tokens.
  • The top 1001 to 5000 players will each win 500 tokens.

This means that each and every month we'll be giving away an extra +- 14million tokens! Whoo hoo!

What are you waiting for? Make sure you get spinning now and win your share!

Want to know how to dominate the Leaderboards and claim your share of the winnings? Make sure you read "Helpful hints from a DiLiGO Gamer" which will tell you all you need to know in order to win win win!

BADGES: The Low Down

You've been playing the new version of DiLiGO Slot Machines for a while now so you know all about Badges- but do you really? We've dropped hints here and there about the future of Badges, but have not made any outright statements. This is going to change right now.

Badges- What's the Point?

We've heard this often. What's the point? Why should I purchase a badge with my hard-earned points? Well- here are our reasons:
  • They're an awesome way to show your friends how well you've been doing on the Slot Machines as clearly those with more badges are doing better than those with none!
  • They look so cool on your DiLiGO Profile.
  • We're going to be running special promotions that will reward you with Tokens for completing an entire Badge set (ie. getting them all!) within a certain time period.

SPECIAL PROMOTIONS

After the release of our first Badge Sets some players jumped right in there and completed these first sets within record time! We thought this was so awesome that we decided to give you free tokens! These tokens were credited to your account on the 12 August 2010.

Helpful Hints for DiLiGO players: Advanced edition Volume 1

If you're looking for advice on how to do well when playing DiLiGO Slots, then you're on the right page. Ken Wilson is an experienced DiLiGO Gamer with a TON of awesome tips and tricks on how to play DiLiGO Slots strategically to ensure that you can play longer, and win more. He blew us away with his first article "Helpful Hints for DiLiGO Players", and he's done it again now with his "Advanced edition Volume 1". You're a fool not to read this.

Hello DiLiGO Buddies.  By now if you have been using my original hints for DiLiGO players, you should've had a nice increase in your token count because you've been following my steps to success.  So now, I'm going to focus on certain areas that deserve to be scrutinized that bit more to give you guys an idea of what players such as myself do to win more tokens.  This part is going to focus on what it takes to get multiple Top 80 results per hour.

First off, we are going to focus at the top of the hour, when the leaderboards have reset and bear in mind that I am only talking about the individual leaderboards at this stage, we can deal with the overall leaderboard later.  Pick a machine you want to start on and play that machine.  Your goal is to get a winning combination that scores enough points to hold a Top 80 position for a whole 60 minutes.  Your best chance is to score on machines that quite a few people get the same good pay on to use the "get in early with your wins" rule to your advantage really early.  These games include: High Gear, Token Rockets, Driving Tinkerbell, Buccaneer's Bounty, Leprechaun, Original Slots, Ancient Egypt, Euro 2008, US Elections 2008, Rock & Roll or Beijing Olympics.  If you do it early enough, your ranking is higher and has more chance of holding in the Top 80....focus on these machines more in the first 15 minutes as it's harder to get a high ranking on them later.

If you can't do it in your allocated budget on that machine don't worry, just move onto the next machine, but keep following the mantra of always making a profit, don't spend too much on the one machine as your luck may be on another machine while your wasting tokens on a machine that wants to be a lost cause for that particular moment.  The machines change their paying ways several times during an hour like they have mood swings, ranging from paying everyone to paying no one depending on the time and the machine.  I've been on a machine and got nowhere early in the hour, but came back near the end of the hour with some saved tokens and got a major pay which allowed a Top 80 on that machine....it's just the machine's temperament at that time.

After going through these games that I've listed, you then have the games where random payouts determine the rankings more often than not.  These are the ones that have mini games attached such as: Tinseltown, Top Ace, Wild West, Trick or Treat, Happy Holidays, Spoiled Rotten & Easter.  In most cases if you get these winning combinations, you have a greater chance of getting your Top 80 position because a lot of these can boost your overall spin score enough to get you up into the Top 80.  For example, Tinseltown will give you between 40-70pts. extra if you get on the Hollywood Spins mini-game which if you get a good director chair score (5 chairs twice for example) will give you more points than getting 5 ladies which is the highest payout apart from the Jackpot.

The third group of machines are the machines where you can get a lot of multiple payouts in the same spin from the major payouts.  These include most of the remaining games in the list including: Disco, Katy's Kitchen, Footy Fanatics, Di Vino, LOLcats, Mad Scientist, Tropical Paradise & Vegas.  Other machines that also fall into this category while also being in the first two categories are Driving Tinkerbell, Spoiled Rotten, Tinseltown, Happy Holidays, High Gear and Trick or Treat.  These are the games that can give you a lot of points very quickly with their constant payouts on one to 5 or more lines in any one spin!  Not only do big spins like these occur giving you a Top 80 score, they occur very often which builds your point reserves and gives you the ability to upgrade your machines and get your badges quicker and the leaderboards on those games in particular can get very competitive as we all try and get good scores on those machines.  Tropical Paradise can get a lot of very good scores in a row, and when you throw the Free Spins in there aswell, a lot of big point wins can be made for zero cost to you which means you can get in the Top 80 for nothing when it could have potentially cost you up to 1875 tokens for 25 free spins (playing 5x15).

Another thing to do is to make a trail of games you can play that will give you the maximum opportunity to make tokens.  Even though there are 30+ machines to play, if you want to be realistic and use your tokens to their best, your best bet is to focus on a group of 12 to 15 machines over the hour.  By doing this, and if you budget a standard members daily allocation (1000 tokens) per machine, if you played 12 machines in an hour it will cost you a maximum 12000 tokens so your goal would be to make a minimum of 12000 tokens which is easily achievable.

See, now you're thinking, "Oh right Ken, that's 12 out of 12 Top 80's I have to get!  Get real!", but it's not like that.  You can easily get a couple of first places, and you can get a Top 80 or #1 score on the overall leaderboard.  You can also get heaps of tokens in the Token Rockets game through it's "Black Hole Jackpot" which gives up to 800 tokens depending on your winning Rocket combination and can boost your token count up if you've had a bad run on a couple of machines.
Not to mention if you already got your big win early in your budgeted amount, you already know that you're safely in the Top 80 and you're already switching to the next machine, saving your tokens that you would have spent trying to attain the result on the machine you just achieved and already trying to get another big result early on a different machine.  Plus by focusing on 12 machines per hour, it gives you a full 5 minutes per machine which is more than enough time to easily spend your 1000 tokens if you don't succeed.  So set a direction of which machines will give you the most tokens back for your tokens spent using the three groups of machines.

That's it for this set of helpful hints.  I hope this all helps you guys maximize your playing time and fun on DiLiGO slots and if it does help you win more tokens, drop a comment down here and let me know.  On the next Volume I will be telling the almighty dark secret, what scores regularly get you into the Top 80.

Just remember, there's over 7.5 million tokens available from DiLiGO everyday, are you going to claim your rightful share of the tokens??  Also, don't forget to keep adding friends that are in the DiLiGO Buddy Finder so we can continue sharing token gifts with each other.

Have fun all, good luck, and see you on the leader boards!!  NOW GET OUT THERE AND START PLAYING!! :D

Cheese vs. Wine: A battle divine!

Have you ever wondered just why exactly they serve Cheese and Wine at a cheese and wine tasting?  Why not cheese and green tea, or wine and custard pies? For some reason, way back in ancient times, someone decided that these two foods would be paired and served at quasi-sophisticated gatherings for all eternity.

And you’ve got to wonder how Cheese and Wine feel about their relationship after all these years of doing the same gig together, over and over again. Perhaps these two brothers in fermentation have become best friends as they’ve both improved with age.

But I would imagine that two such pungent characters don’t easily share the limelight, especially considering that, of the two, Wine gets the most attention. Cheese is often little more than a trusty sidekick.  I’m sure that sometimes Cheese wonders whether anyone would even notice if it disappeared, especially after one or two glasses of Wine. And Wine probably thinks Cheese is a bit of a downer. A couple of bites of mozzarella to line the stomach and all the fun goes out of Wine’s cavorting journey into the bloodstream.

It’s not really Cheese’s fault that it doesn’t offer quite the same kick as Wine. Wine got the better deal from the start what with having a divine benefactor and all. Bacchus, god of wine (who used to throw the most insane parties) indulged Wine’s more extreme proclivities and developed its special powers. And because of this Wine stands gloriously featured in Romantic poetry as the nectar of the gods.

But who is the god of Cheese?

If there is one, he seems to have faded into obscurity and abandoned Cheese to its associations with all sorts of smelly things like old socks. So quite often, Cheese only has Wine and its other buddy Crackers to give it a leg up in polite society.

But Cheese has its poetry too. After all, isn't the moon an icon of romance and isn’t it also made of ... you guessed it... Cheese! Not Wine, oh-ho no! But who remembers that little fact after their second bottle of exquisite Pino?

Perhaps there was once a time when Cheese shone with a little more than reflected light. Maybe there were good, sober Cheese parties where Cheese held court with its own fawning entourage of understudies, like Crackers and Pickled Cucumber, while sweet little lambs chased butterflies in the meadows. Cheese’s paradise was perfect until some wino on his way home from last night’s Bacchanalia stumbled onto the scene. Feeling overwhelmed by the previous evening’s activities, the guy snatched at a chance to redeem himself through Cheese’s pious company.

And so the disciples of Bacchus discovered Cheese and the ancient world was changed forever. No more Bacchanalias and no more cheesy meadows. From then on it was all suits and cocktail dresses making small talk and pretending not to wobble on their high heels as Cheese and Wine battled inside them for the upper hand. And through it all Wine gained sophistication and Cheese lost its smugness.

To remember their origins, DiLiGO is bringing the divine back to cheese and wine tasting with their new game Di Vino. But this time Cheese gets to be Wild! It is a revolution which has sparked a winning streak for DiLiGO Cheese fans around the world! The cheese board replaces any other symbol and if you get five in a row your score soars with 200 points! This is Cheese’s moment to shine and if you come and play Di Vino now, so will you!

    DiLiGO Interview: Pigeon

    Name

    Pigeon

    Date of Birth

The 24th light cycle, of the Earth month you know as May, in the time period designated 1987.

Who would you say your celebrity  doppelganger is?

I'm kind of a composite of many celebrities:

    -The beard of Johnny Depp,
-The hair from the Beatles (you can choose the member),
-The eyes of Cyclops from the X-men,
-The singing voice of Jack Black,
-The nose and mouth of Scorpion from Mortal Kombat

    I'm like a celebrity Frankenstein.

What do you do at DiLiGO Games HQ and how  much do you LOVE it?

I'm a developer here at DiLiGO and I do a little of this and a little of that, but developing new and exciting features is my favorite job.

I also make sure everybody here is in a good mood by flashing them the patented “Pigeon Smile” which will brighten up any DiLiGO staff member's day by 10 fold.

How much do I love it? Well at least this much:
*-Pigeon stretches his wings out as far as they can go-*

Which do you prefer and why - playing slots  at a casino or on Facebook?

That's a toughy as they are both awesome. My favorite part of slots is rubbing my friend's noses in my massive winnings and I can do that both at the casino and while playing DiLiGO Slots.

HOWEVER! If I play on Facebook, not only can I show off to my DiLiGO buddies, but the entire DiLiGO Slots community, and to all Facebook friends as well :) So Facebook slots wins the better slots experience.

What is your favorite game on DiLiGO Slot  Machines and why?

To be honest I don't have a favorite because I switch slot machines more often then Chuck Norris kicks someone random in the head. I do enjoy playing the newer machines though, which is great because we're constantly bringing out new machines, which keeps my attention.

What theme would you most like to make?

I wouldn't mind a Classic Monster theme :) With the Wolfman, Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, King Kong and all those other crazy kids. I'm trying to decide now if Bigfoot belongs in that group or not? Hmmmm... Opinions?

Now I'm trying to decide who would win in a battle to the death.

What's  your best strategy for playing slots?

Bet HUGE, win HUGE! Its not much of a strategy, but when it works, boy does it work.

    Putting the MO in MOvember!

This morning thousands of men around the planet woke up and shaved their faces just like they do every morning. Except this shave is a little different. Today they are doing it for a cause. It is a grand gesture that will prepare them to join the ranks of a brotherhood in the tradition of great MO Bros like Tom Selleck, Salvador Dali, Burt Reynolds, Borat and the Mario Brothers.

Because today is the start of MOvember, which is all about sprouting a fantastic MOustache for charity.

“But why a MO exactly?” you may ask.

It all began in the Land Down Under where a small group of inspired gentlemen realised that their MOs had the power to make the world sit up and notice. So they used this MO power to raise funds for charity. First their new whiskers came to the aid of other whiskers by raising funds for the animals at the RSPCA. Then seeing that their MOs marked them as very manly men indeed, they turned their efforts to raising awareness and funds for men’s health charities across globe through the MOvember Foundation.

So, gentlemen, what are you planning to do with your upper lips this month? Why not join the MO Bros around the world and celebrate MOvember in true MO style?

Go, right now, and shave your face so that you can sprout your own proud lip caterpillar over the next 30 days. Start by clearing all the hair from your face and neck. (Important note: it is not necessary to shave your head.) For the whole month of MOvember you must grow only the hair on your upper lip. No goatees or sideburns are allowed. You may style your MO but over-trimming will defeat the object of the exercise.

You may also want to practise a few good excuses to explain your transformation into a MO Bro over the next month.

Here are a few choice comebacks suggested by the Movember Committee.

    •    "I'm raising MOney for charity"
    •    "MOvember - say MO nore"
    •    "I wanted to look like your grandmother"

But the best way to keep your MO pride and make the most of its power to attract attention is to join other MO Bros in your area and take part in local MOvember charity events. And you can even recruit a few MO Sistas who will support you and perhaps even sport their own fake MOs as a sign of solidarity.

Grow your MO and let the world remember MOvember!
