New Feature: Lucky Draws Improved

We've made some really exciting changes to the Lucky Draws in order to increase your chances of being a Winner!

Previously draws would only happen once every 30mins but, because we love you, we've decided to have 2 draws every 30mins. The exciting thing about the second draw, is that the maximum number of entries a player can have for the second draw is 1000. By creating the Max 1000 Draws we can ensure that everyone has an equal chance of being picked as a winner.

In a nutshell,
each user now has an increased chance
of being the Winner
And there will now be
Double the number of Winners
everyday!
So isn't it time you...

Fifa World Cup Countdown

It's World Cup Soccer this year and this time it's being held in South Africa. This is a country that is as well know for it's biltong and rooibos tea, as it is for being the home of the iconic Nelson Mandela, who was president during their transformation into a non-racial society.

We thought we'd do a little investigating into the various places that games will be held, and what Soccer Fan's can expect when they arrive in Africa. Contrary to popular rumor, visitors won't be required to live in mud huts and have to watch out for lions and elephants strolling through the streets. While South Africa is still classified as a developing nation, the cities are much like any other you might find in Europe or America.

Cape Town is one of the cities where matches will be held, and is already a very popular tourist destination with pristine beaches, restaurants, and a bustling nightlife.

They've also built a brand new stadium just for the World Cup which can seat 68,000 people. On the 11th of June matches will kick off and the first teams to play in the Cape Town Stadium will be Uruguay vs. France. The stadium has already been tested out in January when there was a game played between two local teams.
Outside of the city you'll find forests and sprawling farmlands. There are a number of regions in Cape Town that are very well known for their Wine, and many visitors make it a priority to visit the cellars and taste what they have to offer. You can see from the pictures below that it's a green and beautiful part of the country, unlike the typical depiction of Africa as being dry and dusty.

We're enjoying all the build up to the amazing event. It's the first time the World Cup has been hosted in Africa, and from what I can tell South Africa couldn't have been a better first choice.

So will you be heading to South Africa this year?

Strategy, Cheats and Tips for Facebook Slot Machines

Early one Monday morning I headed in to DiLiGO HQ with two steaming cups of high-quality coffee and a hidden stash of doughnuts. With the coffee I successfully lured a Programmer Nerd out of his Nerd-Cave (aka his office) in order to divulge all the secrets to playing Slot Machines on Facebook!
Once settled in chairs he began to nervously mumble into his coffee. I hauled out the heavy artillery (the secret stash of fresh doughnuts) and this winning combination of caffeine and deep-fried sugary goodness had him spilling the beans in no time at all. Here's what he had to say:

Me: So how long have you been in "the biz"?

Nerd: I started my career in programming 15 years ago in online gaming but only in the last couple of years did I move over to the Facebook platform.

Me: Impressive! We recently asked our users what strategies they use in order to win with DiLiGO Slot Machines. So first thing I want to know is, is it really possible to use strategy in order to win while playing Slot Machines on Facebook?

Nerd: Most definitely. While it is not a skills-based game as such it is possible to employ strategies that efficiently make use of pre-defined game parameters.

Me: Uuuuh.... yeah... what's that mean in non- Nerd-Speak?!

Nerd: Sorry.... When you play poker with a group of friends you need to have some skills in order to do well. There aren't any skills necessary to pull the one-armed bandit but you can have a strategy, even if it's a Slot Machine on Facebook. It's actually the perfect game for those who play for enjoyment because you have as much chance to win as anybody else.

Me: Well my next question would then be "What's a Great Strategy for playing Slot Machines on Facebook" but lets rather take a look at what our players had to say!

Darryl J. L. says "Press spin and hope for the best, lol"

Nerd: A valid strategy, but perhaps not the best one there is. It does come down to luck, but you can plan how you spend your tokens in order to win a bit more than if you just play without thinking.

Me:

Lisa S. M. says "I play the most credits to get the most points and only play the games with the highest payout. I try to get the best score so I can make it on the leader board and win credits. I also use my points in the lucky draw to win credits"

Nerd: Now that's what I call a strategy! She's definitely got a much better chance to win. The reason for this is because she's making sure that not only does she win a large amount but that in doing so she's going to receive an extra reward for reaching a top place on the leader board. She is then backing up her good win with a chance to get more tokens by entering into Lucky Draws.

Me:

Shezza D says "I stock up my tokens for a week and use them all at once, not that it gets me any further. lol"

Nerd:
This is an okay strategy if your only aim is to have lots of tokens to play with. If you actually want to get a lot more tokens then you need to do a few other things - play games that pay out in tokens and enter lucky draws as well. Remember to get your friends to send you gift tokens each day as well.

Me: Some folks say that they struggle to get their friends to remember to send them gifts. Is there any other way they can do it?

Nerd: They could message their friends to remind them and make sure to let them know when they have sent Token Gifts as well. If you're one of those keen strategists then you'll definitely want to check out this forum post where people can ask to be added as a friend in order to give and receive tokens.

Me: Fab! Now have a look at this comment

Chris D says " lol there is no trick to it with me louisa.. i log on i play and when the tokies are gone i cry..hee hee well thats not true as of late... on the easter slot i have try to bet in 5s then 4s then 3s etc etc to try and max out my credits in order to find them lovely looking almost tasty and tantalising eggs.. But that pesky wabbit type thing ( Hazel ) has hidden the last ones well cause i have had at least 4 bonus games with no new eggs lol like another facebook game im playing ha they are on the last day of there bonuse and i still after weeks cant find a queen...( hope hazels not going to run out of eggs ? and as for the stock up tokens bit well looking at my account would explain that one rightly lol they are spent 5 mins after logging on and the poor wee blighters dont get a chance to stock up.... Maybe if the devs started giving more like every 6 hours and opened the royal bank of deligo where you could save up tokies ( ummmm shhhhhhhh chris lossing the plot again)"

Nerd: Umm... what was the question there?

Me: Hee hee! I just loved his comment!

Nerd: Actually this guy sounds like a real DiLiGO Fan and I'd hate to see a true fan cry. He's the kinda guy who will be really happy about some new projects I'm working on where players will get to work towards achievements that they'll get rewarded for. The new achievements are going to add a whole new dimension of excitement to our games and give you a whole new way to look at your strategy.

Me: That sounds sweet! So, do you have any other tips for me? (offers Nerd the last doughnut)

Nerd: Well, just for you... Token Rocket is called that for a reason. Play whatever games you enjoy, and when you get down to say, 100 tokens, then play Token Rocket. It's really important to fully upgrade the game for this strategy to work so that you can also unlock the bonus game. Playing this machine and getting the bonus game at least once can sometimes double the amount of tokens you'll have to play with.

Me: Wow! Are you sure you should be telling me this?

The Nerd then stood up, winked at me, and hurried off back to his office!

70's Roller Disco Slot Machine

With the 70's as our inspiration as a theme for our new slot machine we did some research, and cringing, at some really retro 1970's fashion and trends that young folks enjoyed way back then!

So how do you know if you're a 1970's Roller Disco King or Queen?

10. You shunned Inline Skates as a silly new fad and chose to instead hang on to your trusty old-school pair!

The Roller Disco still existed in the 1980's even though Disco on the whole was rejected. During this time skate manufacturers started to distribute inline skates to ice hockey players and by the end of the 1980's this style of skate became popular with the general public. These days you'll be hard-pressed to find the 1970's style skate. Although, as with most things, they might just become retro enough for a comeback and especially in the wake of the YouTube sensation of Roller Babies in this Evian advert.

9. The Bee Gees always have been, and always will be, your favorite band

The BeeGees rose to fame along side the Disco Era and when their popularity began to decline, so too did they. There was actually a huge backlash against Disco following it's immense popularity but if you were a true 1970's roller-disco-lover then this wouldn't have stopped you!

8. You can easily define the word "Discotheque"

Did you know that prior to this most nightclubs only had live bands performing? It was only in the 1970's disco clubs that Disc Jockey's became responsible for playing recorded music over a powerful PA system. There were some really famous Discotheques in the United States, such as Studio 54, that even celebrities were eager to get into. These clubs featured lit dance floors and light displays that were lit up to the beat of the music as people danced the night away.

7. You watched Saturday Night Fever at the Cinema, multiple times

Although not roller-disco, this iconic movie was made during the peak of the Disco Era and helped launch the career of John Travolta. You will definitely find this in the movie collection of a dedicate Roller Disco-goer!

6. You owned a zippered jumpsuit

Eeek! Spandex and hot-pants were also some... er... interesting fashion items from the 70's. They are definitely items that are more suited to slender body types but that would never stop a true fashion-lover. We're pretty glad that this trend has been mainly lost and forgotten in the mists of time but who knows what a Roller Disco King or Queen might be wearing in the privacy of their own home!

5. Your clothing cupboard could be described as 90% plastic due to all the clothing made out of man-made material

There was suddenly a vast variety of man-made materials available and many of them were used in clothing of the 70's. You might have had to stay well away from open flames, but that didn't stop people from trying out crazes like wearing see-through plastic suits over a leotard. Possibly not the greatest idea while working up a sweat at the Roller Disco!

4. If you're a man, you owned a three-piece suit in a bright, bold colour and would think nothing of wearing a pair of platform heels!

Yes, this was another time in human history where it was not only manly but encouraged for guys to wear heels. Girls wore them too but many guys enjoyed this trend as well. However, looking back at those brightly colored (read: hideous eyesores) three-piece suits one can only but wonder what on earth they were thinking!

3. You can bust a couple of Tony Manero moves, on roller-skates or off them

Being able to bust a move off the Disco Floor was just as important at the Roller Rink. There were a couple of leg-breaking moves the experts were able to pull off but number 2 on our list was the most important of all.

2. You know how to "Shoot the Duck"

This is when you know you are on your way to Roller Disco stardom! I will even admit at this point that back when I mastered the art I actually managed to win a prize at my own local Roller Disco for holding this pose the longest.

And, number ONE on our list for all you Roller Disco Kings and Queens....
Drum roll Please!

1. You feel an overwhelming sense of longing and nostalgia when watching this movie trailer!

Now check out our latest theme "DISCO" here:

For the love of slots?

When we started making our games, we simply imagined a fun way for slots-lovers to spend their time on Facebook. Our main aims were that they be free, easy to use, and tap into the social networking aspect with the Live Leader board. Never did we image the tremendous mystical power we held in our hands...

Like most companies we also like to Google ourselves on a regular basis (and we're not ashamed to admit it) to see who has been saying what about us and to guard against, as Beyonce sang, people "dissin' [us] on the internet". Low and behold we were to discover that day just how far the hands of fate can reach in order to bring two soul mates together!

We came across this blog post on a dating website that gave a couple of details about how two people had fallen in love as a result of a friendly little competition on our humble little application! Being a true romantic at heart I can't help but jump for joy at reading such a great little story, and all of us at DiLiGO Games would like to wish the happy couple all of the best (even though we don't actually know who they are).
